Notification Prevention: How to Reclaim Your Time & Attention
The simple tweak that adds 11 years to your life(!)
As we’ve covered in previous lessons, your ability to be present and focused will determine the quality of your work and relationships.
So, if you want to lead a healthy, happy, and productive life, you need to be able to go deep.
And, as it turns out, there’s a simple tweak you can make to radically improve your daily depth.
It’s easy to make, works immediately, and costs nothing. What’s the tweak?
Turn off your notifications.
Research shows that disabling your email notifications alone will make you about 10 percent more efficient in your work. Over the course of a year, that translates into an extra month of productivity!
And if you disable ALL notifications, you’ll reclaim massive amounts of time. Most people spend a staggering 100 hours per month on their phone. Add it up and, over the course of a lifetime, that equals ELEVEN years!
Your notifications might seem harmless, but left unchecked, they will inevitably ruin your attention and steal years of your life.
So, before you go about the rest of your day, disable the notifications on your computer, phone, and email program.
This simple tweak is literally a life-saver! :)
